"CARE offers practical help with transport, shopping, visiting and help in the home.
It aims to help local people remain independent in their own home surroundings."
CARE volunteers use their own cars to take clients to places they need to visit, but where public transport is not practical or not available. For example:
to a chemist or chiropodist
to visit a friend or a relative in hospital or nursing home in the area
to the local shops
for a drive in the surrounding countryside.
We take clients to their local shops and assist with finding articles and taking the shopping home. We call this escorted shopping.
CARE volunteers visit lonely people in their home surroundings on a regular basis, offering a chance for a friendly chat and exchange of views.
CARE tries to offer full time carers some time for themselves when the situation allows.
